He was a one man band who had an office at home. At the time Rex’s wife Sue was working as a teacher.
Rex and Sue quickly realised that Rex had a winning combination and Sue decided that she wanted to get involved and create a successful roofing company that they could both be proud of. Through hard work and persistence Rex and Sue built up a successful commercial roofing company.
In 2015 Rex and Sue’s children, Brad and Deborah, took over management of Harkin Roofing.
Rex HarkinRetired Owner
Rex started Harkin Roofing more than 35 years ago. His strength was in his openness to improvement and knowledge of the industry. Rex has now retired but still pops in for the odd coffee and loves hearing about any jobs we have won.
Brad has come a long way since he started in his school holidays working at Industrial Sheetmetals in 2000. He went into building sheds and various roofing projects until he started with Harkin Roofing in 2002. He progressed on to become a capable foreman and upon change in the office he was promoted to project manager. He has a thorough understanding of roof, cladding and associated work. Brad is the first port of call for any large construction projects that Harkin Roofing is undertaking.
Deborah has been managing Harkin Roofing with Brad since 2015. Deborah oversees the pricing for the company as well as manages the health and safety practices. Deborah is also the vice chair of the New Zealand Women in Roofing association.
Heather MilnerOffice Manager
Heather started on a 6 week contract in April 1996 and obviously forgot to leave. Luckily for us Heather’s job does not require her going on any roofs as she is scared of heights. Heather runs our office and manages the financial side of Harkin Roofing.
Brenda HoganOffice Executive
Brenda joined Harkin Roofing in October 2018 in a full time role assisting Heather and our team.
Michelle O'NeillQuantity Surveyor
Michelle started at Harkin Roofing in 2014 while she was studying to be a Quantity Surveyor. Once qualified Michelle joined our team on a permanent basis.
